Meet the PFR Team – Jacob Smith, Project Manager
The next team member we’d like to introduce you to refers to himself as ‘kind of a big deal’ – so, without further ado, we present to you… Jacob (or simply Jake) Smith, one of our Project Managers on Team Vicky!
While you may wonder if Jake’s modesty is lacking, his sense of humour is certainly not – Jake is always on hand for a good laugh and gives our team meetings a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’. An original Somerset native, Jake made the move over to our neighbouring country Wales to study at university in Swansea, where he embarked on his career in advertising and graphic design.
He worked on helping start-up companies to design and brand themselves – Jake even helped to launch a few of them into the public domain! We frequently see this helpful side of Jake, as he offers us his expertise in recruitment or his coffee-carrying skills to fellow colleagues in need of a helping hand.
Back to Bristol
After a few years, Jake moved back home to Bristol where he continues to reside to this day. He first worked as an administrator, before his recruitment calling came. Jake initially worked in recruitment sourcing engineers and technicians, giving him the necessary skills needed to later join PFR as a Project Manager. Jake recruits for some tricky projects, but thanks to his well-rounded experience in various sectors, he has no problem recruiting niche participants.
While Jacob tells us he has many “leather-bound books” and that his apartment “smells of rich mahogany”, we have a feeling this is Jake’s sense of humour coming out once again and the reality is slightly different. We’re not sure about the books and the mahogany, but we know Jake does like to collect alternative movie posters and is a bit of a geek. He’s known as the go-to guy for the latest movie reviews and enjoys going to the cinema. A lot.
Having been a Project Manager with PFR now for just over six months working alongside Owain, Ellie and Alex, we’re sure Jake will continue to have a crucial impact on Team Vicky and the participants he recruits – with a few laughs along the way, of course.
